Qalibaf Credits Efforts of Hezbollah, Axis of Resistance for Prospective Lebanon Truce
The Speaker of Iran's Parliament has indicated that the possibility of a ceasefire in Lebanon hinges on the ongoing efforts of Hezbollah and other groups within the regional Axis of Resistance.

Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf stated on X on Tuesday that the establishment and firming up of a broad ceasefire in Lebanon will be attributable to the unyielding efforts of Hezbollah and the solidarity within the Axis of Resistance.
The comments emerged as Hezbollah launched a series of substantial retaliatory attacks on strategic Israeli military positions and unauthorized settlements in the northern region of the occupied territories.
The Lebanese resistance movement has consistently launched retaliatory actions against Israeli forces and aerial units attempting to gain ground in southern Lebanon.
The counterstrikes are intended to address ongoing violations by the Israeli regime of a 2024 ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah. Under the agreement, Tel Aviv was expected to halt its deadly escalations against Lebanon.
Iran has emphasized that achieving a comprehensive ceasefire in Lebanon is an essential component of the ceasefire agreement that concluded the unprovoked American-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic last Wednesday.
In the aftermath of a ceasefire agreement announced by Iran and the United States, intended to conclude 40 days of hostilities against the Islamic Republic, the Israeli government reportedly breached the truce last Wednesday morning. This violation occurred through an offensive targeting civilian areas in Lebanon.
In retaliation, the Hezbollah resistance movement initiated a series of strikes the following day, focusing on various Israeli military and strategic facilities.
The Israeli regime persisted in its intense retaliatory operations on Wednesday, April 15, focusing its efforts on civilian areas within Lebanon, with a specific emphasis on South Lebanon.
On Wednesday, Islamic Resistance fighters launched a series of rocket attacks targeting the settlements of Metulla, Kfar Giladi, Kiryat Shmona, Doviv, Shlomi, Matzuva, Ya’ara, Avdon, Kfar Vradim, Nahariya, and Shavei Tzion. The assault involved multiple rocket barrages affecting these regions.
Qalibaf declared that resistance and Iran share a unified essence, whether in times of conflict or peace.
He observed that the United States should comply with any prospective ceasefire in Lebanon and avoid the “Israel First” error. This refers to Washington’s consistent policy of providing unwavering support to Tel Aviv’s aggressive actions and occupation in the region.
