Power Infrastructure Blaze Triggers Widespread Outages in Occupied Palestinian City of Afula

A major fire tore through power distribution facilities in the northern occupied Palestinian city of Afula, cutting electricity to large parts of the area and exposing yet again the fragility of Israel’s infrastructure under mounting internal strain.
The spokesperson for the Israeli fire service confirmed a blaze had erupted in Afula’s power distribution network, damaging vital equipment and plunging several districts into darkness.
The disruption triggered secondary incidents across the city, including cases of smoke inhalation and residents trapped in elevators, spreading panic and anger among the population.
Local authorities, unable to contain the situation, appealed for assistance from nearby towns.
Despite reinforcements, the restoration of power and control of the fire took several hours.
According to energy specialists cited in Israeli media, an “unusual and suspicious surge” in voltage likely caused the explosion and fire in the city’s distribution systems.
The Afula incident follows a string of recent industrial mishaps that have further shaken confidence in the regime’s infrastructure.
Only a day earlier, Israeli outlets reported a massive blaze at a food processing plant in the western Galilee industrial zone of Goren, where frozen goods and dough products were produced.
Preliminary findings by Israeli fire and security authorities attributed that fire to a malfunction in the plant’s industrial systems.
Similar industrial accidents have occurred in recent months across occupied territories, resulting in explosions and fires that have alarmed settlers and unsettled investors, underscoring the regime’s inability to manage its own technical and safety crises.
