Pezeshkian to Participate in Islamic-Arab Summit in Doha Addressing Zionist Aggression
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to participate in an extraordinary Islamic-Arab summit in Doha on Sunday and Monday. The summit, convened by Qatar, aims to galvanize support for Palestinians in Gaza and address Israel's recent strike on the Qatari capital.

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, confirmed the nation’s involvement, stating that both he and the president are scheduled to deliver addresses.
During a Thursday night interview with IRIB, he emphasized the urgency of taking action, stating that mere words are insufficient. He insisted that the assembly needs to go beyond issuing statements of condemnation.
The summit takes place following Israeli missile strikes on Doha last Tuesday, aimed at senior figures within Hamas. The attack resulted in the deaths of relatives and aides associated with Hamas officials but did not succeed in targeting the group’s leadership. This marked the first instance of Israeli military action on Qatari territory and has drawn widespread condemnation. Qatar has issued a warning, suggesting there could be a unified regional response.
Araghchi noted that during the most recent gathering of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Jeddah, Iran called for implementing substantial measures.
He announced plans to sever relations with the Zionist regime, halt economic cooperation, warn those aligning with Israel and Western nations, and enforce sanctions and economic penalties.
He emphasized that these measures continue to be essential.
The minister criticized the dependence on rhetoric and resolutions, stating that the people of Gaza require tangible support rather than impassioned speeches. He emphasized the urgent need for food, water, medicine, and, most importantly, their rights, land, and the autonomy to determine their future.
Araghchi remarked that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had unveiled the true character of Israel.
“It has become evident, not just to us and the citizens of Iran, but to many regional actors who previously overlooked the situation. Now, it is increasingly clear to both the people and governments in the region that the principal threat is posed by the Zionist regime.”
Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani stated in a CNN interview that the upcoming summit is poised to decide the future course of action.
He called for “a collective regional response” to Israel’s assault, coinciding with ongoing discussions among Hamas officials regarding the most recent US-backed ceasefire proposal for Gaza.
Since breaching a ceasefire agreement with Hamas in March, Israeli operations have resulted in the deaths of 12,170 Palestinians, escalating the total casualty figure to 64,718 since the onset of the conflict in October 2023.
The authorities have enforced a stringent blockade on the Palestinian territory, leading to severe shortages of food and essential supplies. This dire situation has compelled the United Nations to formally declare a state of famine.
