Dr. Hasan Fadlallah, a member of Lebanon’s Loyalty to the Resistance Parliamentary Bloc, highlighted the resilience and willingness to sacrifice of those injured in the Pagers massacre. This commemoration, marking the first anniversary of the tragic event perpetrated by Israeli forces against numerous Lebanese citizens, including youth, women, and children, underscored their enduring spirit.
MP Fadlallah highlighted that the sacrifices and efforts of the wounded have contributed significantly to securing freedom for the nation.
During a press conference held at the Parliament headquarters, MP Fadlallah emphasized that the resistance made significant sacrifices, safeguarding the nation with its efforts, and subsequently entrusted it to the Lebanese state, as was done in the year 2000.
Consequently, it is imperative for the state and its governing body to assume full accountability and actively pursue the execution of the directives outlined in the ministerial statement.
MP Fadlallah stated that the government has reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding Lebanon’s sovereignty and self-defense rights, thwarting any acts of aggression. The authorities are also committed to enforcing the National Accord Document through all necessary means to reclaim territory and extend the state’s authority across the nation.
“Despite ongoing government commitments, hostilities persist, with aggressions targeting civilians ranging from the southern regions to the Beqaa Valley. Meanwhile, prisoners remain in captivity as promises of action remain unfulfilled.”
MP Fadlallah highlighted concerns over the enemy’s construction of a buffer zone along the border, effectively banishing all forms of life from the area. He called into question the government’s actions in countering the aggression, seeking clarity on efforts to secure the return of prisoners and the liberation of occupied land.
A Hezbollah lawmaker criticized the government’s response, accusing it of remaining silent on the enemy’s aggression while hindering Lebanon’s primary defense mechanism, the resistance. He questioned the absence of a clear timeline for equipping the national army and challenged the neglect of Lebanon’s right to self-defense.
In relation to reconstruction initiatives, MP Fadlallah expressed concerns, highlighting that no tangible actions have been observed. He accused the government of intentionally disregarding the issue due to both internal and international factors, pointing out that the national budget lacks any specified allocations for these efforts.
MP Fadlallah stated that a request has been made to the Minister of Finance to reevaluate the current budget and allocate resources for reconstruction, asserting that the existing budget appears to avoid fulfilling the government’s commitments outlined in the ministerial statement.
MP Fadlallah has stated that certain government officials are disregarding their obligations by contravening both the constitution and the national document.
