Israeli occupation forces raid homes in Abidin, western Daraa countryside

Israeli occupation forces advanced into Abidin in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa countryside on Thursday, surrounding the town, searching homes and opening fire as soldiers pursued young men in nearby agricultural fields, according to SANA’s reporter.

The reporter said the forces surrounded Abidin from the directions of Beit Ara and the road leading to al-Shajara, prompting tension and concern among residents.

The first group of Israeli military vehicles to enter the town comprised around 10 vehicles. The total number of vehicles involved in the incursion was not immediately known.

Israeli occupation forces searched several homes and opened fire while pursuing young men in the surrounding agricultural fields. No injuries were reported.

The forces also set up checkpoints between the villages of Maariya and Abidin and the town of Jamla, restricting residents’ movement, while military aircraft flew at low altitude over the area.

Earlier on Thursday, an Israeli occupation force advanced into Wadi al-Raqad in western Daraa countryside and set fire to a warehouse and a house.

Israeli occupation forces continue to violate the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through repeated incursions into southern Syria, raids on civilian homes, detentions, land bulldozing and attacks involving shelling.

Syria continues to demand the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from its territory, stressing that all Israeli measures are null and void and have no legal effect under international law. Damascus has called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and compel Israel to withdraw fully from southern Syria.
