ISIL Product of West, Regional Allies

A senior Iranian lawmaker blasted the western countries and their regional allies for supporting the Takfiri terrorists in the region, and said the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) is a protégé of the West in the region.
“The ISIL and the other terrorist groups which are active in the region have been created and supported by the West and its regional allies,” Head of Iran-Georgia Parliamentary Friendship Group Moayed Hosseini Sadr said in a meeting with Chairman of the Georgian Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee Tedo Japaridze in Tbilisi on Tuesday.

Hosseini Sadr, meantime, pointed to the role of the parliamentary friendship groups in facilitating and broadening friendly relations, and said, “Parliamentary consultations and relations within the framework of friendship groups and specialized commissions play an effective role in boosting diplomatic relations among different countries, and Iran and Georgia should expand their parliamentary relations by adopting this progressive trend.”

He noted that Iran is ready to further broaden its mutual cooperation with Georgia in the areas of energy, dam construction, transit of goods and sharing experiences in modern technologies.

The chairman of the Georgian parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee, for his part, voiced his pleasures in the current level of Iran-Georgia relations, specially in parliamentary fields, and said that the two countries’ officials and lawmakers have laid emphasis on increasing their consultations and negotiations in recent years.

Earlier today, a high-ranking Iranian parliamentary delegation left Tehran for Tbilisi to discuss new avenues for promoting all-out ties in meetings with senior legislators and officials of the CIS nation.

Iranian Parliament Speaker’s adviser for international affairs Hossein Sheikholeslam said that the Iranian parliamentary delegation would stay in Georgia for a five-day visit.

He further added that the trip is taking place upon an official invitation of Chairman of Georgia-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group Gubaz Sanikidze.

Sheikholeslam went on to say that promotion of Tehran-Tbilisi relations is the main objective of the visit.

While in Georgia, the Iranian lawmakers are to hold separate meetings with the Georgian parliament speaker and legislators.

Iran has recently accelerated expansion of ties and cooperation with friendly countries, including Georgia, and observers believe that the good achievements gained in area of their cooperation should be deemed as a result of the efforts made by the Iranian and Georgian officials.
