Iran’s Resolve Leads to US-israel Ceasefire Declaration in Lebanon

Following last week’s discussions in Islamabad between Iranian and U.S. delegations regarding the cessation of US-Israeli hostilities toward Iran, Tehran has persistently advocated for a ceasefire in Lebanon. This demand has been positioned as a critical prerequisite for any advancement in the negotiations and the initiation of a second round of dialogue.

This development has compelled both the United States and the Israeli government to announce that a ceasefire is set to commence on Thursday night.

Israel was attempting to persist with military operations against Lebanon despite a ceasefire brokered in Iran, while the United States sought to sidestep the issue, allegedly breaching its initial commitment to the agreement.

Iran maintained its position and ultimately compelled Trump and the Israeli government to comply on this issue.

Iran has reiterated its commitment to its fundamental principles, demonstrating that steadfast resistance yields results.

On February 28, after the assassination of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the US and Israel launched an extensive military campaign against Iran. In retaliation, the Iranian Armed Forces conducted a series of counterattacks over a 40-day period, targeting American and Israeli military sites in the region, showcasing their military prowess. The Iranian responses inflicted significant damage on US and Israeli assets, defying expectations of a quick resolution and intensifying regional tensions.

In a move aimed at reducing tensions, Pakistan successfully brokered a two-week ceasefire starting on April 8, setting the stage for mediated talks in Islamabad. During these discussions, Iran put forward a ten-point proposal, advocating for the withdrawal of US troops, the removal of sanctions, and asserting control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, the plan called for an end to Israeli military actions in Lebanon.
