Iran’s Judiciary Chief Vows Severe Measures Against Rioters Without Mercy

Iran's Judiciary chief has issued a stern warning, alleging that the United States and Israel have overtly "supported insecurity" within the Islamic Republic. He emphasized that those exploiting economic protests to incite unrest will face strict and uncompromising action.

In a Monday meeting with judicial authorities, Gholamhossein Mohseni-Eje’i stated that during times of unrest, the Islamic establishment consistently provides an opportunity for individuals who have been misled or unknowingly engaged in detrimental activities to separate themselves from agitators and clarify their stance.

He assured that the concerns raised by protesters and critics about livelihood and economic welfare will be addressed.

The judiciary chief declared that authorities would handle those attempting to incite unrest and disrupt national security with a firm adherence to the law. “We will not remain silent in the face of rioters,” the official asserted.

He warned that the nation would not show any leniency to rioters, unlike previous instances, highlighting that at this moment, key adversaries, specifically the United States and the Zionist regime, have both publicly and officially endorsed the unrest within the country.

Mohseni-Eje’i stated that rioters can no longer assert they were misled.

The head of Iran’s Judiciary has issued directives to the attorney general and prosecutors nationwide, urging them to strictly adhere to legal procedures and take decisive action against rioters and their supporters, emphasizing a firm stance with no tolerance or leniency.

Last week, demonstrations broke out as shopkeepers in Tehran shuttered their businesses in response to the steep decline of the national currency, which hit unprecedented lows against the US dollar.

Iranian authorities have recognized the economic challenges confronting the population, affirming that peaceful protests are a legitimate form of expression. Concurrently, they have cautioned against external influences, suggesting that foreign-backed groups are attempting to capitalize on the unrest to incite violence.

The leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, stated on January 3 that the bazaari class continues to be “among the most loyal segments of the country to the Islamic Revolution.” He also cautioned against adversarial forces attempting to take advantage of legitimate economic discontent.

He stated that the key issue is that “a group of incited individuals, acting as mercenaries for the adversary, are positioned behind the bazaar merchants, voicing slogans against Islam, Iran, and the Islamic Republic.”
