Iran’s Armed Forces Spokesman Declares Any Aggression a ‘Legitimate Target’

A senior spokesperson for Iran's armed forces stated that any site identified as a source of hostility towards the Islamic Republic of Iran will be considered a legitimate target for retaliation.

A senior spokesperson for Iran’s armed forces has declared that any location deemed a source of aggression towards the Islamic Republic of Iran will be considered a legitimate target.

Major General Abolfazl Shekarchi announced on Saturday that the nation’s armed forces are resolute in confronting adversarial threats. This statement comes a week following an unexpected military offensive by the United States and the Israeli government.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, was reportedly killed during the initial series of terrorist assaults on Tehran on February 28. In the wake of these attacks, hundreds have lost their lives, including high-ranking military officials, in various incidents throughout the nation.

Iran has rapidly responded to what it deemed acts of aggression by launching a series of missile and drone strikes targeting Israeli-occupied territories and U.S. military bases in various regional countries.

Shekarchi highlighted that the military has fulfilled its pledge by targeting all bases utilized by the United States to initiate attacks on Iranian soil.

In a statement regarding Iran’s regional strategy, a representative highlighted that the nation’s ongoing efforts focus on safeguarding the well-being of neighboring states, reinforcing their dedication to this foundational tenet. The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters emphasized that the Iranian Armed Forces uphold the national interests and sovereignty of neighboring nations, confirming there have been no attacks on its neighbors.

He stated, “The security of all Muslim nations aligns with the security interests of the Islamic Republic, and we hold the national sovereignty of each country in high regard.”

He restated that nations that refuse to permit the use of their airspace, territory, or facilities for hostile activities will not be targeted and their security will remain safeguarded.

He further stated that any nation permitting the use of its airspace or territory by adversaries against Iran will be deemed a target.

Earlier on Saturday, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that the Leader’s interim council had issued a directive to the armed forces, barring any offensive actions against neighboring countries unless provoked by an initial attack from those nations.

In a recent statement, Shekarchi emphasized Iran’s unwavering stance against the United States and Israel. He called upon regional nations to join forces in expelling American forces from the area, labeling them as the primary source of instability in Islamic territories.
