Iran says committed to regional security; retaliatory attacks only target Israel, US assets

The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces says Iran’s retaliatory attacks are exclusively directed against Israeli and US assets, and that Tehran remains committed to safeguarding the national security and interests of neighboring countries.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the headquarters said the “collapsing Zionist regime” and the “criminal United States” have no choice but to accept defeat in the imposed war against Iran.
The statement warned that Israel and the United States, in “a desperate attempt” to break out of a deadlock, are planning to target diplomatic centers and the interests of Muslim countries in the region and blame Iran.
Any such attempt by Israel and the US in this regard are intended to create unrest in the region and to dodge “defeat.”
The statement reiterated that Iran holds no hostility toward neighboring and Muslim countries and remains committed to preserving regional security and protecting the interests of Muslim nations.
A fresh wave of Iranian retaliatory strikes has crippled a major US air base in Bahrain, with strikes destroying command centers as Iranian forces continue launching firm response to the US-Israeli aggression.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that targeting US military bases in the region was “legitimate self-defense.”
Referring to Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, he said Iran has the legal right to defend itself against “acts of aggression” by the US or the Israeli regime.
Araghchi said Iran does not seek to escalate tensions in the region, but will respond decisively to any threats against its sovereignty and national security.
The regimes in Washington and Tel Aviv started their unprovoked military assault on February 28. So far, at least 787 Iranian people have been killed in the terrorist airstrikes.
Iran launched its swift retaliatory barrages of missile and drone attacks on the Israeli-occupied territories as well as the US bases in the region.
