Iran Parliament Speaker: Israel Suffered ‘More Humiliating’ Defeat in Riots Than 12-Day War
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has stated that the recent disturbances in the country resulted in what he described as a "more humiliating defeat" for the Israeli regime compared to the 12-day conflict that occurred last June.

The Zionist regime executed coordinated terrorist activities in multiple cities throughout Iran. However, according to Qalibaf’s statement on Saturday, it faced a more degrading setback in under 48 hours than it did during the 12-day conflict.
He commended the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) for their significant efforts in safeguarding the nation during both the US-Israeli conflict and the recent terrorist disturbances.
He stated that the foreign-supported unrest resembled the actions of the Daesh terrorist organization, notorious for committing heinous acts and killings, describing its members as lacking faith and opposing religious values.
A senior Iranian lawmaker has alleged that the terrorists received comprehensive training orchestrated by the Israeli government, the United States, and their allies.
He indicated that the Israeli regime had coordinated the attack in a similar fashion to the terrorist assault on Lebanon in September 2024.
On September 17, 2024, a coordinated explosion of wireless communication devices linked to members of the Hezbollah resistance movement occurred simultaneously across various areas in Lebanon and Syria. The blasts resulted in the deaths of at least 12 individuals and left approximately 3,000 others injured, predominantly affecting ordinary citizens.
The Israeli government has officially acknowledged its responsibility for the attacks.
In other parts of his address, Qalibaf cautioned against adversarial schemes aimed at sowing discord within the country, which he asserted could undermine the interests of the Iranian nation and the Islamic Revolution.
He emphasized the critical importance of following the directives of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in order to effectively counteract the plots of adversaries.
At the end of last month, a series of peaceful demonstrations broke out among merchants in Tehran and other cities, driven by economic difficulties intensified by years of Western-imposed sanctions.
Authorities have acknowledged the legitimacy of the protesters’ demands; however, the demonstrations were overtaken by rioters allegedly supported by American and Israeli leadership, who have issued public statements encouraging vandalism and chaos.
According to officials, certain mercenaries were equipped, trained, and recruited by intelligence agencies from the United States and Israel with the aim of provoking violence, damaging public infrastructure, and targeting civilians and security personnel.
In an announcement issued on Wednesday, Iran’s Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs reported that 3,117 individuals had died amid the unrest.
The report further highlighted that among the fatalities, 2,427 were innocents, comprising both civilians and security forces.
