Iran Intensifies Border Security Measures

Iran has introduced enhanced security measures along its borders in response to reported rising threats from both the eastern and western fronts.

Mehr News Agency reports that the commander of the Iranian Army’s Ground Force has announced the implementation of advanced electronic surveillance along the nation’s borders. This initiative involves the deployment of cutting-edge cameras and sensors, alongside the construction of new bases and watchtowers to enhance border security.

Brigadier General Ali Jahanshahi announced that coordinated efforts with border guards and police are underway to prevent the entry of unauthorized individuals, contraband goods, weapons, and drugs. These measures are pivotal in achieving long-term security for both the region and the nation, he stated in an address to reporters.

A senior Army commander highlighted the ongoing regular drills conducted by the Army’s ground forces to uphold combat readiness. He noted that the nation has gained significant insights from the recent 12-day Israeli military aggression against Iran. “In the aftermath of the conflict, proactive steps have been initiated to modernize weapons and equipment, alongside the training of personnel,” he stated.

The National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament convened a meeting on Tuesday that included representatives from the Police Force, Border Guard Force, General Staff of the Armed Forces, and Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC). The session focused on evaluating and approving sections of the recently formulated Comprehensive Border Protection Plan, as announced by Ebrahim Rezaei, the committee’s spokesman.

In recent months, Iran has been ramping up its border security efforts to curb illegal migrants, terrorists, armed bandits, and smuggling activities. This bolstered security initiative is deemed vital amid intelligence assessments suggesting increased collaboration between the Israeli regime and terrorist and separatist factions near Iran’s borders. During the 12-day conflict in June, the Tel Aviv regime was reported to have deployed a number of illegal operatives within Iran.
