Iran Denounces US Attack on Larak Island, Pledges Robust Retaliation to Any Further Hostilities

The ministry asserted that the nation reserves its legitimate right to respond in kind.
In a Monday statement, the ministry announced that Iran’s armed forces struck US military installations in Jordan. This action was described as retaliation against what was termed an American “military attack” on areas of Larak Island, which resulted in multiple casualties and injuries.
The incident on Sunday, described as an attack by the “terrorist” US armed forces, led to multiple casualties among Iranian military personnel and civilians, while also causing significant damage to both public and private properties.
The Ministry emphasized that, in reaction to military aggression and exercising the inherent right to self-defense, the formidable armed forces of Islamic Iran launched defensive and decisive strikes against US military bases located in Jordan. These bases were identified as the source and backing for US military actions against Iran.
The statement reaffirmed that the US military action on Larak Island constituted an unequivocal breach of the United Nations Charter. It called upon the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General to uphold their duties in maintaining global peace and security and to ensure accountability for the transgressor.
The Iranian ministry has called on the United Nations Secretary-General, the President of the Security Council, and all nations voicing concerns over instability in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. The ministry emphasized that “the sole source of insecurity in the region’s maritime routes is attributed to the unlawful and aggressive actions of the United States and the Zionist regime.”
The statement noted that these actions were initiated with a US-Israeli offensive against Iran on February 28 and have persisted over the last six months through different means, including a naval blockade and other “provocative and interventionist” activities.
The statement emphasized that Iran’s military forces are committed to exercising the nation’s inherent right to self-defense and will respond decisively to any military aggression from adversaries.
The ministry has stated that the United States bears full responsibility for the repercussions of any new military actions and the ongoing naval blockade and economic sanctions against Iran, along with any entities that support or facilitate such actions. The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has revealed that its Aerospace Force has targeted U.S. military installations in Jordan, marking a firm retaliation for the attack on Larak Island.
