Iran Denies Engaging in Negotiations with the US

During a press briefing held on Monday, Baqaei addressed remarks made by Trump, who suggested that Iran had agreed to US proposals. Baqaei emphasized that Iran has maintained a consistent stance, firmly rejecting what it considers excessive and unreasonable demands presented through intermediaries.

Baqaei announced that Iran has not engaged in any direct discussions with the United States thus far.

He explained that the discussions revolved around messages conveyed through intermediaries, suggesting an American interest in initiating talks. He warned, however, that whenever the United States mentions diplomacy, it warrants a degree of skepticism.

He observed that it remains uncertain how many in the United States genuinely adhere to their diplomatic assertions. Baqaei stressed that Iran maintains a consistent and unwavering position, in contrast to the evolving stance of the United States.

Iran has long been aware of the framework it is pursuing, the spokesperson stated, characterizing the proposals presented as overly ambitious and unrealistic. In reference to meetings involving Pakistan, Baqaei noted that these discussions follow a framework devised solely by Pakistan, with Iran not taking part.

In a diplomatic stance, it was emphasized that while regional nations focusing on ending the conflict is a positive step, it is crucial to identify the aggressor. It was underscored that Iran, having been attacked, should not be anticipated to exercise unilateral restraint, as it was not the initiating party.

In response to Trump’s assertion that Iran accepted U.S. proposals, Baqaei stated that American officials tend to say whatever suits them, but Iran has not engaged in any negotiations with the United States.

He stated that communication had only been in the form of requests for discussions from the United States, relayed through intermediary nations.

In a recent statement, Baqaei emphasized Iran’s distinct stance, asserting that as acts of aggression persist, the nation’s primary focus will remain on self-defense initiatives.

He determined that the United States’ allegations lack credibility, highlighting Iran’s past experiences of betrayal during negotiations.

The United States, in coordination with Israel, initiated a significant military operation targeting Iran in response to the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, accompanied by the deaths of multiple senior military figures and civilians on February 28.

Extensive aerial assaults have targeted both military and civilian sites across Iran, resulting in substantial casualties and considerable damage to the infrastructure.

In a counterstrike, the Iranian Armed Forces have launched operations targeting American and Israeli positions within the occupied territories and at various regional bases, utilizing an arsenal of missiles and drones.
