Iran army vows to bury enemies beyond its borders
Iran's army commemorated the anniversary of Operation Mersad on Monday, vowing to "obliterate adversaries beyond Iran's frontiers."
The army announced that Operation Mersad, the pivotal 1988 counter-offensive that successfully halted an incursion by Iranian opposition forces in the closing stages of the Iran-Iraq war, stands as a testament to Iran’s military strength and the resilience of its armed forces in defending the nation.
The announcement highlighted the overwhelming presence of both civilians and military personnel at the forefront, attributing the triumph to the “astute strategy” of the late Major General Ali Sayyad Shirazi. The statement underscored that the operation exemplified the unified resilience of Iran, emphasizing the country’s commitment to repel any aggression and deter adversaries outside its formidable borders.
The military reported that its forces, in conjunction with other divisions within the armed forces, demonstrated their “inherent strength, fueled by national fervor and confidence in the divine assurance of triumph” during the 12-day conflict, the Ramadan War, and the Battle of Hormuz.
