Iran Anticipates China’s Practical Implementation of Global Governance Initiative: Pezeshkian
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called on China to intensify efforts in executing its "valuable" initiative aimed at enhancing global governance. The move is intended to advance multilateralism and counteract the impacts of unilateral actions on the international stage.

Pezeshkian shared his insights in a recent interview with China Central Television (CCTV) amid his visit to Beijing for the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.
He conveyed appreciation for the vision of global governance put forth by Chinese President Xi Jinping, highlighting its focus on equitable interaction among nations, irrespective of their size or economic power.
He urged Iran and China to commit to the principles of governance and the previously suggested initiatives, encompassing global security, peace, development, and civilization, and to put these ideas into action.
He added that China, which is spearheading this policy, is anticipated to lay the foundation for realizing its ambitious objectives.
The Iranian president cautioned that, without change, the United States and the Israeli government would persist in their activities in the region, targeting opposition groups, and carrying out assassinations of political leaders, civilians, and scientists.
He highlighted the historical ties between Iran and China, emphasizing that the relationship between the two nations spans several thousand years, reflecting their ancient and deeply entrenched civilizations.
Pezeshkian highlighted the perceived double standards in international relations, stating that “the Zionist regime disregards laws and acts with impunity, yet faces no intervention.”
He noted that if any other country attempts to take action, international organizations and European nations would swiftly accuse that state of ignoring regulations and violating human rights.
He claimed that the Israeli authorities are restricting access to essential resources such as water, food, and bread for the people in a certain territory, leading to suffering and death from deprivation, in full view of the international community.
Pezeshkian condemned nations proclaiming their commitment to human rights on the global stage, including within the United Nations, for backing the Israeli regime rather than intervening to halt its alleged violations. He asserted that such a double standard is entirely indefensible.
He observed that the global governance initiative put forth by the Chinese president emphasizes adherence to international law as a core principle, cautioning against its use as a double-edged tool.
In other parts of his speech, the president stated that Iran has no issues with the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the inspections conducted by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Pezeshkian stated that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) disseminated misleading information and erroneous reports regarding Iran, allegedly due to pressure from European nations and their lobbying groups. This, he explained, resulted in unfounded resolutions and a damaged reputation for the Islamic Republic.
He emphasized that Iran’s nuclear activities are subject to the world’s most stringent inspections, noting that the scale of these inspections is unprecedented.
Iran has granted the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) access to all required facilities, with the Agency’s inspectors carrying out numerous inspections.
He emphasized that there is no justification for targeting facilities that operate in line with International Atomic Energy Agency guidelines and remain under its surveillance. Such actions, he added, are entirely contrary to international law.
He reaffirmed the peaceful intentions of Iran’s nuclear program, stressing that Tehran has no intention of breaching the frameworks set by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
