Iran able to thwart US sanctions targeting SE’s economy

A top military adviser to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says that by establishing economic relations through our private sector, the US cannot impact the activities of the Shahid Beheshti Port.

Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi emphasized today that regional security in Iran’s southeast will remain steadfast, asserting that foreign adversaries cannot undermine stability if local cooperation and private-sector economic ties with neighboring countries are strengthened.

During a press conference on Monday morning, Major General Safavi highlighted the strategic significance of southeastern Iran and the persistent interest of foreign powers in the region.

Foreign adversaries covet this area, but with the collaboration of brave and patient local communities, we can ensure enduring security that forms the foundation for economic development, Safavi said.

Addressing questions regarding US sanctions against Chabahar’s Shahid Beheshti Port, Safavi underscored Iran’s robust regional ties: “We have 15 neighboring countries, and by establishing economic relations through our private sector, the Americans cannot impact this domain. We share 2,000 kilometers of border with Pakistan and Afghanistan. While the US makes efforts, they cannot stop us.”

Southeast Iran, particularly the strategic Chabahar Port, is vital for regional trade and connectivity, serving as a key transit point for Central and South Asian commerce. US sanctions have targeted the port to limit Iran’s economic leverage, yet Iranian officials continue to stress resilience through regional cooperation and border-linked commerce.
