Iran 3×3 basketball team notches 3rd win in Above the Rim Vol.1 tournament

The Iranian women’s national 3×3 basketball team has captured its third consecutive victory at the Above the Rim Vol.1 tournament in Kazakhstan, moving past the Kyrgyz outfit.

On Sunday, the Iranian squad, comprised of Mozhgan Khodadadi, Ma’soumeh Esmaeili, Sara E’temad and Saeedeh Ali, opened the game in a convincing fashion, picking up most of the points.

Iranians managed to widen the difference against their Central Asian opponents and won the match 21-14.

The Iranian team had thrashed the hosts 21-6 in its second game at the first round of the tournament.

The Iranian sportswomen had defeated Uzbekistan 19-14 in their opening meet.

The Above the Rim Vol.1 3×3 basketball tournament opened in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on April 15, 2017 and will conclude the following day.

The 3×3 (pronounced three on three) basketball is a form of the game played three a side on one hoop.

The basketball discipline is currently being promoted and structured by FIBA, and the highest tournament for national 3×3 teams is the FIBA 3×3 World Championships.
