Hezbollah’s Sheikh Qassem Claims US Prepared to Cede Lebanon to ‘Israel’

Hezbollah's Deputy Secretary-General, Sheikh Naim Qassem, has asserted that the Resistance movement in Lebanon is capable of countering the ambitions of "Israel." He emphasized the importance of unity, national defense, and solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem stated on Wednesday that the Resistance in Lebanon has successfully thwarted Israel’s goals, preventing it from occupying any territory during the Battle People of Might. He emphasized that Israel is currently deterred and unable to establish a presence on Lebanese soil.

In an address commemorating the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Sheikh Naim Qassem asserted that Israel has harbored ambitions to lay claim to Lebanon and its towns since the country’s establishment.

In a firm assertion, he emphasized that the pinnacle of patriotism lies in defending Lebanon.

Sheikh Qassem emphasized that the Resistance has made significant sacrifices in its efforts to defend Lebanon, noting the high price paid, including the sacrifices of key figures such as Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashim Safieddine.

The Secretary-General highlighted the pivotal role of the Resistance in establishing a formidable defense against Israel’s ambitions. This strategic stance has thwarted Israel’s objectives, contributing to Lebanon’s stability and marking a new chapter by aiding in the election of President Aoun and countering adversarial forces.

Sheikh Qassem asserted that Lebanon’s downfall was primarily due to corruption and the failure to enforce the Taif Agreement. He further noted that the situation was exacerbated by Israeli aggression, which intensified the nation’s instability.

He highlighted that the intention behind the November ceasefire accord was to put an end to the hostilities and enable the state to fulfill its duties by eliminating the occupier; nevertheless, neither of these aims has been realized to date.

In response to the sessions convened by the Lebanese government on August 5 and 7, which aimed to advance the Lebanese Army’s objectives to ensure that arms remain solely under state control, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah asserted that these measures exceed the government’s authority.

He stressed that discussions must occur strictly within the confines of a national defense strategy, declaring it as the sole path to a resolution.

Hezbollah’s leader underscored that Lebanon’s progress rests on three fundamental pillars: firstly, securing sovereignty by ousting “Israel” and resisting Arab-American oversight; secondly, systematizing government operations and initiating reconstruction efforts; and thirdly, addressing and eliminating corruption.

Sheikh Naim Qassem has characterized the current landscape in Lebanon, citing an “internal issue” attributed to certain individuals pushing for the disarmament and an “external issue” ascribed to the continuous hostilities by Israel.

He noted that certain figures within the country appeared to be working in alignment with an Israeli agenda, urging them to “work as partners within the nation rather than providing excuses for adversaries.”

He subsequently directed domestic parties to hold off on deliberations concerning the national security strategy until the external issue is resolved.

In this setting, the leader of the Resistance underscored that pursuing authority via “Israel” will be ineffective and urged all Lebanese citizens, both Muslims and Christians, to collaborate in nation-building efforts.

Sheikh Naim Qassem raised concerns regarding the government’s inclination to relinquish Lebanon’s primary source of strength in the absence of a viable alternative for national defense.

This development emerges amid claims that the United States is fully prepared to cede control of Lebanon entirely to Israel, he cautioned.

Sheikh Naim emphasized that both the United States and its adversaries share a common goal: to weaken Lebanon, rendering it vulnerable to Israel’s broader expansionist ambitions. He claimed that the United States has reneged on its commitments to Lebanon, with the current focus shifting to disarming Hezbollah before any actions are taken by the opposition.

He further stated that the West is indifferent to Lebanon, focusing solely on “Israel.” He emphasized that Lebanon represents the land, future, and legacy for their generations.

He declared resolutely, “We will not succumb to pressure, regardless of its intensity, and we will never concede.”

In a statement addressing the recent aggression against Qatar, the speaker labeled it as “a quintessentially American-Israeli act of hostility, conducted with U.S. approval.” He further emphasized, “We stand in solidarity with Qatar in resisting this aggression, viewing it not as an isolated event but as a component of the broader ‘Greater Israel’ initiative.”

Sheikh Qassem raised concerns regarding the lack of support from Arab nations for the Resistance, pointing out that the ongoing existence of the Resistance is the principal factor delaying the definitive implementation of the “Greater Israel” initiative.

Trump directly addressed Arab nations, questioning their capabilities in the event of the Resistance’s conclusion.

In this context, he emphasized that individuals should either support the Resistance or, at the very least, avoid attacking or pressuring it, as the Resistance is the only entity capable of confronting Israel.

In a recent statement, Sheikh Qassem emphasized that unity built on a foundation of truth is integral to achieving national unity across the region.

Hezbollah’s Secretary-General, Naim Qassem, extended a notable gesture of recognition to “the great and courageous Yemen,” noting that the nation is enduring significant challenges to demonstrate unity and unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. He emphasized that backing Palestine embodies the utmost expression of Islamic solidarity.

Sheikh Qassem emphasized the significance of the Palestinian cause as a core issue symbolizing the unity of the Islamic nation. He highlighted the enduring commitment and sacrifices made in support of the Palestinian people at every juncture.

In the face of continuing hostilities, there was a call to “stand in solidarity with our people in Gaza and the West Bank against the criminal American-Israeli aggression,” emphasizing the resilience of the Palestinian people and the persistence of the Resistance despite various challenges and adversities.
