Hezbollah Thriving, Declares Iran Parliament Speaker
In an appearance on the online program “Majaray-e Jang” (The Story of War), Qalibaf expressed that despite facing challenges, such as the loss of its former secretary general Seyed Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah remains resilient and cohesive, exhibiting a renewed vitality and strength.
He posed the question of why the United States would continue to prioritize disarming Hezbollah if the organization had indeed been vanquished.
Qalibaf characterized the Hamas-led Al-Aqsa Flood Operation on October 7, 2023, as an act of legitimate resistance, asserting that, strategically, there was no error in its execution.
In a statement underscoring Iran’s backing for regional resistance efforts, he emphasized that the operation’s execution was a unilateral decision by Hamas, carried out independently without foreknowledge from Iran or Hezbollah.
It was stated by Qalibaf that the decision in question was solely made by Hamas, with the Islamic Republic of Iran and Hezbollah of Lebanon not being informed about the operational specifics. This stance has also been reiterated by Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, and the late Hezbollah leader, Nasrallah.
Qalibaf emphasized Iran’s position as a supporter rather than a direct authority, stating, “We do not meddle in the decision-making processes of Hezbollah and Hamas. They independently choose their paths according to their political and operational situations, but we back their choices in alignment with the defense of their territories and Islamic principles.” He asserted that this backing serves as a strategy to safeguard Iran’s national security and interests.
The Speaker of Parliament pointed to the operation’s success as evidence challenging Israel’s assertions of complete informational supremacy.
Qalibaf characterized the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation as a strategic imperative, emphasizing that any assessment of the operation should take into account the ongoing Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.
He asserted that the strategic operation conducted on October 7 was flawless, emphasizing that the legitimacy and righteousness of the resistance remain steadfast.
