Hezbollah Official Says Iran Faces U.S.-israeli Hostility Due to Obstruction of ‘Greater Israel’ Agenda

A senior Hezbollah official has stated that Iran is facing hostility from both the United States and Israel due to its opposition to what is referred to as the "Greater Israel" plan in the region.

Sheikh Ali Damoush, the head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council, stated on Saturday that both Washington and Israel are focusing their efforts on the Islamic Republic, citing its “Islamic and revolutionary nature” as the basis for their targeting.

He stated that the hostility of the United States and the Zionist regime, along with their efforts to undermine the Islamic Republic of Iran, stem from Iran’s Islamic-revolutionary identity.

Damoush has emphasized that Iran has been uniquely targeted, as it stands as the sole nation resolutely aligned in the axis of opposition against Israeli occupation.

He cautioned about attempts to entangle the region in renewed hostilities, stating that a war with Iran at present “would serve Israel more than it would serve the United States.”

Amid heightened tensions and military threats from the United States towards Iran, new indirect discussions have commenced in Oman regarding Iran’s nuclear program and the potential lifting of U.S. sanctions.

Damoush has reported claims indicating that Tel Aviv is allegedly attempting to obstruct negotiations between Tehran and Washington, while also purportedly seeking justifications to incite conflict.

Addressing the concept of “Greater Israel,” Damoush stated that Iran and the Axis of Resistance have thwarted Israeli territorial ambitions and blocked the completion of the perceived plot.

He stated that the key to realizing this project and allowing this regime to dominate the region lies in the elimination of Iran and its regional allies, who serve as obstacles to Israel.

The concept of “Greater Israel” has re-emerged in recent Israeli political discussions. In August of the previous year, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed to Israeli media his profound association with “this vision,” which encompasses the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories along with portions of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. He characterized it as “a historical and spiritual mission.” This statement was met with significant criticism from various countries in the region.

In other parts of his speech, Damoush focused on Lebanon’s domestic situation. He articulated that resistance has been the foundation of Lebanon’s strength and a key factor in deterring Israel over the last three decades.

He declared that it is imperative for all to understand that the people will not capitulate and remain resolute in their pursuit of securing all their rights.

He emphasized that resistance is a legitimate right and serves as “a symbol of Lebanon’s dignity and pride,” asserting that no individual, irrespective of their status, has the authority to abolish it or undermine its legitimacy.
