Hezbollah Leader Criticizes Lebanon’s Inaction on Prisoners in ‘israeli’ Detention
The Secretary-General of Hezbollah has expressed disapproval towards the Lebanese government for its inability to facilitate the release of prisoners detained by Israel.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Sheikh Naim Qassem expressed that Beirut has not applied “adequate pressure on allied nations” to secure the release of Lebanese detainees in Israeli prisons.
Qassem has issued a warning that the ceasefire brokered two years prior, which came into effect after the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, remains in a precarious state unless there is a release of prisoners.
He stated that stability cannot be achieved unless all prisoners are released and the whereabouts of the missing are disclosed.
The leader of Hezbollah stated that efforts would persist in striving for the release of the prisoners.
Qassem declared, “Resistance is our choice…we are a people committed to not forsaking our prisoners. We will exhaust all means at our disposal to secure your freedom, with our faith in Allah being profound,” as he condemned Israel, denouncing it as a regime devoid of fundamental human values.
Israel has reportedly detained a minimum of 23 Lebanese citizens following the escalation of hostilities with Hezbollah, citing claims that they are affiliated with the Hezbollah organization.
Several civilians are reportedly detained in Israeli prisons, involving individuals abducted since the cessation of hostilities in November 2024. Reports indicate that some were enticed from Lebanon into areas under Israeli occupation with assistance from agents operating on behalf of Israel within Lebanon.
Sheikh Qassem’s statement surfaced amid ongoing ceasefire violations by Israel on Sunday, as drones and jets targeted locations in southern and eastern Lebanon. Reports indicated that the attacks resulted in two fatalities.
Reports indicate that Israel has breached the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon over 1,000 times, while consistently issuing warnings of potential conflict should Hezbollah fail to disarm.
The Lebanese resistance has declined to relinquish its arms, asserting that the weaponry is crucial for defending Lebanon against potential renewed Israeli aggression.
