Hezbollah Drone Threat Looms Over Israeli Troops in Lebanon: Zionist Daily
Israeli troops stationed in Lebanon have reported increasing fear and persistent anxiety as they face ongoing threats.

Israeli troops stationed within Lebanon are expressing heightened concern and continuous unease due to the looming threat of Hezbollah’s explosive drones. These advanced threats are reportedly transforming standard operations into instances of vulnerability and powerlessness, as detailed in testimonies published by Yedioth Ahronoth.
Recent accounts from military personnel and officers reveal that drones utilized by the Lebanese resistance group pose a continuous threat on the battlefield. This technological advancement has significantly altered conditions on the ground, causing soldiers to feel vulnerable and exposed, while raising doubts about their capability to effectively respond during operations within Lebanese territory.
A soldier from the 98th Division, referred to by Yedioth Ahronoth as “A,” expressed that his recent deployment in Lebanon was the most daunting experience of his military career. He recounted the persistent menace posed by Hezbollah drones, which left him feeling “helpless and perpetually anxious.” He noted that the psychological strain experienced on this mission was unparalleled compared to his prior assignments.
A soldier shared a harrowing account of his unit being alerted to drone activity overhead, compelling him to leave his vehicle and seek refuge in the adjacent woods. He described the sense of helplessness in that situation as the most challenging experience of his military career.
An Israeli soldier, speaking to a local daily, described an overwhelming feeling of vulnerability, stating it was an unparalleled experience of helplessness. The soldier expressed a sense of being utterly exposed, with the only recourse being to hope not to become the next target.
During his testimony, he voiced his frustration with the leadership of the Israeli military, contending that the army was “not advancing with sufficient momentum.” He further argued that field units were operating under limited authority, which he claimed was fostering uncertainty among soldiers. This uncertainty revolved around whether their mission in southern Lebanon was yielding tangible results or merely exposing them to risks without significant strategic benefits.
In an independent account, Lieutenant “Sh,” the leader of a technology and maintenance company within the Givati Brigade’s reconnaissance unit of Israel, recounted a lethal close-range assault by a Hezbollah drone during an operation in southern Lebanon last May.
According to her account, she and her assistant entered a disabled Namer armored personnel carrier when their unit was attacked by an explosive drone. Her assistant was able to spot the drone at the final moment and push it into the vehicle just before it detonated, resulting in serious injuries for both individuals.
According to Yedioth Ahronoth, the officer sustained shrapnel injuries to her face and head and experienced damage to her eardrum. Her assistant also suffered injuries to his legs. Both individuals were evacuated for medical treatment, and the officer subsequently underwent several surgeries. Reports indicate that some fragments remain lodged in her body.
Recent testimonies highlight the increasing operational and psychological challenges faced by Israeli occupation forces in Lebanon, particularly in light of Hezbollah’s expanding use of drones. These developments are significantly affecting both troop morale and battlefield conditions.
