Hamas pays tribute to IRGC Palestine unit commander assassinated by Israel

The Hamas resistance movement has paid glowing tribute to a martyred Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) commander, praising his “outstanding role” in supporting the Palestinian cause.

In a statement issued on Friday, Hamas’ military wing, the al-Qassam Brigades, expressed condolences over the martyrdom of Brigadier General Mohammad Saeed Izadi – known as Haj Ramezan – who headed the Palestine section of the IRGC Quds Force.

General Izadi’s martyrdom was confirmed by the IRGC on Thursday, several days after he sustained critical injuries in an Israeli attack.

Hamas’ armed wing said Haj Ramezan was directly responsible for contacts with the leadership of the Palestinian resistance, at its core, Hamas and the al-Qassam Brigades.

Palestine and its resistance movement will mourn the loss of Haj Ramezan and remember his sincere efforts and assistance to the Palestinian people and their resistance, it said.

“He was truly a unique leader, with a great influence and sacred responsibility. He responded to a divine call to support the [Palestinian] resistance, interacted directly with its leadership, and provided it with all means of assistance over the years,” read the statement.

“He also conveyed the concerns and hopes of the resistance … to his brothers in the Islamic Republic.”

The al-Qassam Brigades said the Zionist enemy still lives with an illusion that it can destroy the spirit of resilience among the Palestinians through the assassination of resistance leaders.

It praised the Iranian people for showing steadfastness against Israel, as well as the Iranian armed forces for dealing painful blows to the usurping entity and revealing the regime’s weakness.

Iranian forces, it emphasized, demonstrated that Israel can be contained and defeated.

On June 13, Israel launched a blatant and unprovoked aggression against Iran, assassinating many high-ranking military commanders, nuclear scientists, and ordinary civilians.

More than a week later, the United States also jumped on the bandwagon and bombed three Iranian nuclear sites in a grave violation of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

In response, Iranian armed forces targeted strategic sites across the occupied territories as well as the al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest American military base in West Asia.

On June 24, the regime declared a unilateral ceasefire without any preconditions, a sign of its defeat in the face of powerful and unwavering Iranian retaliation.
