Hamas Claims Stalemate in Ceasefire Negotiations Due to Israel’s Alleged Breach of Obligations
The leader of the Hamas resistance movement in the Gaza Strip has accused the Israeli government of failing to uphold its commitments and reneging on previously signed agreements.

Khalil al-Hayya announced on Wednesday night that talks have come to an impasse, attributing the deadlock to the intransigence of Israeli officials and their refusal to adhere to the terms set forth in the Sharm el-Sheikh ceasefire agreement.
He asserted that the Tel Aviv administration fails to adhere to its obligations, urging the ceasefire guarantor nations—Qatar, Egypt, the United States, and Turkey—alongside other mediators, to fulfill their roles and responsibilities.
Al-Hayya emphasized that Hamas has consistently presented proposals and maintained its commitments, whereas Israeli authorities have not fulfilled their responsibilities.
He emphasized that Israel’s failure to meet its obligations is hindering progress toward the implementation of the second stage of the ceasefire.
Al-Hayya questioned the feasibility of moving to the next stage of the Gaza ceasefire, pointing out that the technocratic committee responsible for overseeing regional affairs had yet to be granted access to the area.
The Hamas leader urged Trump and the international community to pressure Israel into fully adhering to the terms of the Gaza ceasefire.
Al-Hayya emphasized the need for a sustained ceasefire, a shift towards the reconstruction phase, and the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces.
Following the announcement of the Gaza ceasefire on October 11 last year, the death toll of Palestinians attributed to Israeli actions has climbed to 837, with the number of injured reaching 2,381.
In the given timeframe, a total of 769 bodies have been retrieved from the wreckage.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip has reported that 72,619 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the escalation of hostilities began on October 7, 2023.
