Hamas Calls on Jordan to Address 16 Detainee Case with National Accountability

The Hamas Movement has reiterated its unwavering commitment to ensuring the security and stability of Jordan, as well as all Arab and Islamic nations. The group has urged the Jordanian government to promptly release 16 individuals who have been detained under accusations of attempting to produce rockets and drones.

Israel launched a series of airstrikes on Gaza, escalating tensions in the region. The strikes targeted key infrastructure and militant positions in response to recent rocket fire toward Israeli territory. The situation remains volatile as international figures call for calm and de-escalation.

The Hamas Movement has reiterated its unwavering commitment to ensuring the security and stability of Jordan, as well as all Arab and Islamic nations. The organization has urged the Jordanian government to promptly release the 16 individuals detained on allegations of attempting to produce rockets and drones.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Hamas conveyed its assurance that the activities undertaken by the detained Jordanian youths, accused of producing rockets and drones, were driven purely by solidarity with Palestine. The organization emphasized that these actions were a stand against the alleged genocide in Gaza and aimed at defending Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, with no intention of compromising Jordan’s security or stability.

Hamas called on Jordanian authorities to acknowledge the “honorable national motives” of the detainees, urging them to handle the situation with wisdom and a pan-Arab sense of responsibility. The organization emphasized the importance of bolstering the longstanding historical ties between the Jordanian and Palestinian peoples in their collective resistance against the Israeli occupation and its strategies.

The Movement highlighted that the actions taken by Jordanian youths were a response to what it described as “the appalling crimes of the Zionist regime and the ongoing genocide in Gaza.”

Hamas has expressed commendation for the initiatives born from “the collective conscience of the nation and its Arab and Islamic identity,” highlighting the deep-rooted historical solidarity between the Jordanian and Palestinian people. This solidarity is marked by joint sacrifices in the arenas of resistance and the defense of Palestine and its sacred sites.

It emphasized that backing the Palestinian resistance is both a national and moral obligation, as well as a right upheld by international laws and conventions. The statement highlighted that this support should be celebrated and respected, rather than criminalized, due to its crucial role in challenging the occupation and its associated offenses.

Hamas extended its gratitude to all voices of support and genuine initiatives from Jordan and the broader Arab region that bolster the resilience of the Palestinian people and denounce the ongoing aggression and acts of genocide occurring in Gaza.

In a recent statement, appreciation was expressed for Jordan’s position in opposing displacement initiatives aimed at the population in Gaza. This stance is seen as a reflection of authentic Arab conscience, bolstering the resilience of the people against the perilous plans of the occupation.

On April 15, Jordan’s Minister of Communications and Government Spokesperson, Mohammad Al-Momani, revealed the arrest of 16 individuals allegedly linked to the production of rockets and drones. The charges encompass possession of explosives and automatic weapons, hiding a missile ready for deployment, and initiating a drone manufacturing scheme. Reports suggest the suspects were also involved in producing short-range rockets, with an estimated reach of 3 to 5 kilometers.
