The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, on Sunday said that the Israeli arrest campaign waged against members of the Movement in the occupied West Bank is a desperate attempt to quell the Jerusalem Intifada.

Hamas’s spokesman Hazem Qasem said in a statement that the Movement will continue to support the Intifada and the Jerusalemite sit-inners at al-Aqsa Mosque.

Qasem affirmed that these arrests will not succeed in breaking the will of Palestinians but will make them more adherent to their rights and national constants.

Nearly 24 Hamas members and leaders were detained on Sunday dawn in a large-scale arrest campaign launched by the Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank in a bid to eliminate any pro-Aqsa popular movement.
