Diplomat to Fill Iranian MPs In on US Talks

An Iranian deputy foreign minister is going to brief the lawmakers on the recent indirect negotiations with the US, held in Italy.

Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi will attend a meeting of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy commission on Sunday, the commission’s spokesperson said.

The deputy minister is scheduled to give a report on the course of negotiations with the US.

The new round of indirect talks between Iran and the US, mediated by Oman and held in the Italian capital, came to an end on Saturday afternoon.

Delegations from the two sides, led by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and the US president’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, held the talks at the Omani ambassador’s residence in Rome.

The two sides have arranged to hold technical negotiations at the level of experts in Muscat on April 23 to go into details and design a framework for a deal.

Top negotiators from the two countries will meet afterwards on April 26 to evaluate the results of the expert meetings and see how close they will be to an agreement.
