Ayatollah Sistani Calls on Arab and Muslim Nations to Address Escalating Famine Crisis in Gaza
Iraq's influential Shia cleric, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, has expressed grave concern over the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, highlighting the worsening famine. He has urged Arab and Muslim countries to implement effective measures to bring an end to the unfolding tragedy.

In a statement released on Friday evening, Ayatollah Sistani expressed deep concern over the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. He highlighted the severe impact of nearly two years of continuous conflict, citing the extensive loss of life and injuries in addition to the widespread devastation of cities and residential areas.
He cautioned that the extent of famine in the blockaded coastal region has intensified significantly, impacting every segment of the population.
Ayatollah Sistani has observed that Israeli occupation forces continue to exhibit extreme brutality in their efforts to displace the Palestinian population.
A prominent Iraqi Shia cleric has urged the international community, especially Arab and Muslim nations, to prevent the continuation of this significant humanitarian crisis.
He urged the international community to amplify efforts to halt the crisis, calling on world nations to exert pressure on the occupying Tel Aviv regime and its allies to permit the swift delivery of food and essential goods to the innocent civilians in Gaza.
Ayatollah Sistani has issued a statement in light of the escalating famine situation in Gaza. Humanitarian organizations have raised alarms over a significant surge in malnutrition rates and starvation-related fatalities as the crisis deepens.
According to recent statistics endorsed by the United Nations, nearly half a million people are presently experiencing severe hunger.
Aid organizations have reported that more than 100 Palestinians, primarily children, have died due to starvation in recent weeks. This comes as healthcare facilities struggle to administer care to thousands of severely malnourished children.
Humanitarian aid efforts persist in encountering considerable obstacles, as Israeli forces impose limitations or target convoys attempting to reach northern and central regions of Gaza.
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and numerous international organizations have described the current situation as a man-made famine, calling on the global community to apply pressure on Israel to immediately lift the blockade.
