Araghchi Challenges Trump to Validate Claim of 32,000 Deaths in Iran Protests
Iran's Foreign Minister has firmly rebutted Trump's assertion that 32,000 individuals were killed in two days of unrest throughout Iran last month, challenging him to substantiate the claim.

In a demonstration of commitment to transparency, Iran’s government has released a detailed list of the 3,117 victims from the recent terrorist operation, which includes approximately 200 officers. This announcement was made by Araghchi through a post on the social media platform X on Saturday.
He urged that those who question the accuracy of their data should provide any evidence to support their claims.
In a news briefing on Friday, Trump claimed that the January riots in Iran resulted in the deaths of 32,000 individuals.
Trump commented on the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the widespread tariffs he had implemented. During his address, he did not provide any source for the reported death toll.
On January 26, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei dismissed as a “big lie” the analogous allegations propagated by outlets critical of Iran.
In a post on his X account, Baghaei criticized the figures being circulated, describing them as a “Hitler-style BIG LIE.” He condemned antagonistic entities for allegedly trying to fabricate casualty reports in the media after their strategies did not succeed on the ground.
The spokesperson claimed that the reported figures resemble a “Hitler-style big lie,” suggesting they are comparable to the alleged plans to harm protesters in Iran. They stated that the operation did not succeed, accusing media outlets of perpetuating falsehoods.
On January 21, Iran’s Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs released a statement confirming the death toll of 3,117 individuals during the recent riots. The statement highlighted that among those killed, 2,427 were identified as innocent civilians and security personnel.
Iranian authorities have attributed the recent riots and acts of terrorism to influences from the United States and the Israeli regime.
The United States and Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, have acknowledged their presence in recent activities, as former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo expressed via a tweet. “Happy New Year to every Iranian in the streets. Also, to every Mossad agent walking beside them,” he stated.
In a Farsi-language social media post, Mossad urged demonstrators to “unite and take to the streets,” declaring that “the time is now.” The agency further assured that its operatives are supporting the demonstrators “not only from afar and through words, but actively on the ground.”
