Aid convoy from Tartous reaches flood-hit camps in northwest Syria

A humanitarian aid convoy organized under the “Tartous Al-Khair 2” campaign arrived Sunday in camps in western Idlib province, delivering assistance to families affected by recent flash floods.

The convoy, coordinated by the civic group “Tartous My City,” carried food supplies, clothing, electrical and household appliances, as well as cash assistance. The aid was distributed to three camps identified as among the hardest hit and most in need in the region.

Mohammad Bakir, head of the Department of Social Affairs and Labor in the city of Dana, told SANA that the support targets families whose tents and belongings were damaged by flooding in recent days. He emphasized the role of such initiatives in reinforcing social solidarity across Syrian communities and expressed hope that displaced residents would soon be able to return to their homes.

Fouad Damlaj, a lawyer from Tartous involved in the campaign, said the assistance reflects solidarity from residents of Tartous. He hoped for a swift recovery and return for displaced families.

Heavy rainfall across northern and western Syria recently triggered flash floods, particularly in areas near seasonal waterways in the Khirbet al-Jouz camps west of Idlib. The flooding submerged multiple tents, prompting authorities to evacuate affected families and open temporary shelters.
