Ground Forces Denied U.S. Opportunity for Ground Invasion, Army Spokesman Says

Iranian Army Ground Forces prevented the United States from launching a ground invasion by deploying elite units and brigades along the country’s borders, Army spokesman Brig. Gen. Mohammad Akrami-Nia said.
Akrami-Nia told Fars News Agency on Saturday that elite units and brigades of the Army Ground Force had deployed along the borders, preventing the Americans from launching a ground invasion, and remained at their posts with high morale.
He said the Army’s air and air defense operations had received extensive media coverage, including reports of enemy aircraft being shot down, but stressed that the contributions of its ground forces also merited greater attention.
According to Akrami-Nia, deploying ground forces denied the United States the opportunity or resolve to launch a ground assault.
The Army spokesman also underscored the ground forces’ coordination with the Air Force, Air Defense Force and Navy, saying their operations prevented the enemy from gaining opportunities to act.
The United States and Israel launched their first military campaign against Iran in June 2025, lasting 12 days. A second offensive began on February 28, 2026, and ended in early April after 40 days.
In both conflicts, Iran’s resistance and successful retaliatory operations compelled the aggressors to agree to ceasefires.
Iran has maintained tight control over the Strait of Hormuz since the early stages of the second imposed war.
In July, the United States carried out a series of deadly airstrikes on Iran and imposed a naval blockade, violating the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Islamic Republic on June 17 to end the war.
In response, Iran’s armed forces carried out strikes against strategic U.S. targets across West Asia and announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all traffic.
