IRGC Spokesman: No Advanced Technology Can Evade Surveillance in Strait of Hormuz
The IRGC spokesperson said no advanced technology could evade Iran’s surveillance systems in the Strait of Hormuz after Iranian forces captured a US unmanned underwater vehicle in the strategic waterway.
Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi said in a post on X that the interception of the U.S. military’s most advanced unmanned submarine demonstrated Iran’s ability to monitor the Persian Gulf.
He said the dawn seizure of the U.S. Army’s most advanced unmanned submarine in 2025 demonstrated that no advanced technology could evade surveillance systems deployed across the Strait of Hormuz.
He added that technology-savvy young people should play a leading role in the Persian Gulf and urged US forces to “return to the Gulf of Pigs.”
The IRGC Navy said Tuesday that it had intercepted and seized an advanced U.S. unmanned underwater vehicle near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz.
The vessel was identified as a Dive-LD autonomous underwater vehicle developed by U.S. defense technology company Anduril Industries and delivered to the U.S. Navy’s Unmanned Undersea Vehicle Group 1 in 2025.
The vehicle, measuring approximately 5.8 meters in length and weighing 2.7 tons, is designed for missions including intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, seabed mapping, infrastructure inspections and mine-countermeasure operations. Published specifications list an underwater endurance of up to 10 days and an operating depth of about 6,000 meters.
