Israeli Army Radio reported that a Palestinian man exited a vehicle near a farm in the village of Osarin and stabbed an Israeli man several times before fleeing the scene.
Israeli forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation for the attacker.
Israeli Channel 12 reported that the wounded settler was airlifted to hospital in serious condition.
Later on Monday, the occupation army said its forces shot a man accused of stabbing an Israeli settler.
In a Telegram post, the occupation military said its forces located the suspect inside his vehicle. It said he attempted to stab soldiers, prompting an Israeli commander to open fire on him.
The incident comes amid an unprecedented surge in settler attacks across the occupied West Bank, many of which are carried out under the protection of Israeli soldiers.
Hamas described the “heroic operation” as a legitimate response to the ongoing actions of Israeli forces and extremist settlers.
Hamas said Palestinians would “not stand idly by” in the face of what it described as aggression, settlement expansion, displacement and attacks on their land and holy sites.
It urged Palestinians across the occupied West Bank and East Al-Quds (Jerusalem) to intensify resistance and oppose Israeli settlement, annexation and displacement efforts.
