Leader Pardons more than 2,500 prisoners on Prophet Muhammad’s birthday
On the occasion of the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), an order was issued to pardon, reduce, or commute the sentences of 2,577 people convicted by Iran’s General and Revolutionary Courts, the Armed Forces Judicial Organization, and the Government Discretionary Punishment Organization.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, coinciding with the blessed birth anniversaries of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (PBUH), Iran’s Judiciary Chief, Hojjatoleslam Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ejei, had sent a letter to Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution, requesting pardons, sentence reductions, or commutations for 2,577 people convicted by the aforementioned judicial bodies.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution entrusted the decision on the matter to the head of the judiciary.
Following the necessary reviews, Ejei issued an order for the pardons, sentence reductions, and commutations to be carried out for these individuals.
