Security forces arrest ISIS member in eastern Syria

Syrian security forces have arrested a member of the ISIS terrorist group in eastern Syria following a targeted security operation conducted in coordination with the General Intelligence Service, the Ministry of Interior said on Saturday.

In a statement to SANA, the ministry said the man was detained for involvement in the manufacture and use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in previous terrorist attacks.

In April, the ministry said it had arrested an ISIS-affiliated cell in the al-Safira area east of Aleppo in cooperation with the General Intelligence Service.

The arrests are part of ongoing efforts by Syrian authorities to track down terrorist groups and dismantle their networks, according to the ministry.
