Iran Pledges Unprecedented Reaction to Trump’s Kharg Island Seizure Threat
An influential Iranian official has issued a stark warning about potential consequences, stating that any United States aggression on Iranian soil—whether it targets Kharg Island or any other part of the nation—would be met with a retaliatory action that "will be recorded in history." This statement follows threats from Trump to seize Iran's primary oil export hub.
Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, on Thursday dismissed the recent warnings from Trump, characterizing them as the rhetoric of a “delusional and confused” leader, who he claims has been unable to accomplish any of his declared military objectives.
Azizi stated that Trump did not achieve any significant progress from the 12-day conflict in June or the following 40-day confrontation. The U.S. objectives of dismantling Iran, compelling its surrender, or toppling the government remain unmet.
Azizi warned that any miscalculated action by Trump on Iranian territory, including Kharg Island or any other location within the country, would elicit a response that would be historically significant.
In a recent interview with Fox News, Trump expressed a longstanding preference for the strategic acquisition of Kharg Island, an important location situated approximately 20 miles off Iran’s coast. Before the conflict commenced on February 28, the island was responsible for managing around 90% of Iran’s crude oil exports.
Trump expressed doubt about America’s willingness to engage, candidly stating, “I don’t know that America has the stomach for it, to be honest with you.” He further remarked on the potential profitability, noting, “you’d make a fortune.”
In a distinct statement shared on his Truth Social platform, Trump asserted that the United States would launch a significant attack on Iran “VERY HARD TONIGHT.” He further alleged that Iran’s naval, air force, radar, and air defense capabilities had been “almost wiped out.”
In the foreseeable future, Kharg Island and other key oil infrastructure sites will be secured, with full control assumed over their oil and gas markets. This approach will mirror the strategy employed with Venezuela, which has proven to be mutually beneficial for both Venezuela and the United States, Trump stated.
Trump revealed to Fox News that the United States had launched an airstrike on Iran, deploying “$250 million worth of bombs” overnight. He remarked, “They are effectively subdued, even if they remain unaware of it.”
Azizi, having reportedly conducted a personal visit to Kharg Island alongside parliamentary colleagues, stated that Iran’s military forces maintain a state of heightened readiness throughout the entire nation, extending to the crucial island.
He stated that the armed forces on the island have reached such a significant level of readiness that it will likely become apparent in the future, highlighting the peak military preparedness achieved there.
Reports indicate that over 9,000 United States military personnel have retreated from the Persian Gulf. Concurrently, American naval vessels and equipment have been repositioned to the Indian Ocean and other areas. Furthermore, it has been claimed that Iran has dismantled more than 14 US military installations in the region, delivering what has been described as a significant and “humiliating defeat” to American forces.
Ali Fadavi, a prominent advisor to the top leadership of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), declared that Iran stands “on the brink of a significant triumph” poised to disrupt global power structures influenced by “the world’s malevolent entities and the Great Satan.”
“For several months, we have been engaging in conflict with the global superpower,” stated Fadavi.
The global community often views the so-called “Great Satan” as a formidable superpower, instilling a belief among many that opposing such might is unimaginable. However, the Iranian populace has demonstrated remarkable resilience, successfully challenging and undermining this dominant force.
Fadavi hailed the development as a significant source of pride for the Islamic Revolution and its allies, including the Palestinian people, Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Yemen’s Ansarullah movement, and Iraqi resistance groups. He pledged that the resistance would persist “with strength” and ultimately secure victory.
An official has claimed that the United States is deliberately targeting innocent civilians, such as schoolgirls and boys. This statement aligns with Iranian officials’ criticism of a recent US military action that reportedly destroyed drinking water reservoirs in Iran’s Hormozgan province.
The assault resulted in over 20,000 residents losing access to water amid temperatures soaring past 45 degrees Celsius.
Kharg Island, which is roughly one-third the size of Manhattan, boasts expansive harbor facilities that can accommodate supertankers. The island also has a storage capacity of approximately 31 million barrels.
Reports from CNN, citing Pentagon and administration officials, indicate that plans for the United States to take control of Kharg Island have been consistently postponed. This decision is based on the assessment that the operation would entail significant risks, likely resulting in considerable American casualties, with the outcome being “highly uncertain” due to the island’s substantial security defenses.
