Yemeni official: Time for Lebanon to unite against Israel

A high-ranking official from Yemen has called for unity in Lebanon in response to a lethal assault on the Lebanese military, urging solidarity against the Israeli regime.

Abdul Wahid Abu Ras, Yemen’s deputy foreign minister, stated on Saturday that an Israeli assault earlier in the day, which targeted a Lebanese army vehicle carrying two senior military officials and a soldier, indicates that Israel opposes Lebanon as a whole, as reported by Press TV.

Following an accusation from Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, tensions have escalated as the official charged the Lebanese resistance group Hezbollah with sowing discord within Lebanon. Salam criticized Hezbollah for persistently engaging in conflict with Israel, undermining the government’s attempts to negotiate a resolution with Israeli authorities.

Abu Ras asserted that Israel’s direct assault on the Lebanese military demonstrated that the government in Beirut had misjudged Israel’s intentions regarding Lebanon.

He questioned if the residents of the Baabda Palace should rally behind their army, resistance, and citizenry to face their real adversary, the Zionist regime.

The remarks emerge as Israeli assaults on Lebanon persist, with Hezbollah launching retaliatory measures against the regime.

The Lebanese government, aligning with Western interests, has attempted to associate the recent Israeli assaults on Lebanon, which have resulted in thousands of fatalities and the displacement of nearly two million individuals over the past three months, with Hezbollah and its connections to Iran.

Hezbollah has dismissed the government’s attempts to initiate direct negotiations with Israel, which are intended to lead to the disarmament of the resistance organization.

Abu Ras has issued a warning that any concessions made by Lebanon to Israel could potentially embolden the latter to increase its activities within the Arab nation.

A statement has been issued affirming Yemen’s continued support for the resistance in Lebanon in its opposition to perceived Israeli aggression.
