Iran rallies behind Lebanon, deems Israeli escalation pricey choice

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Sadegh Amoli Larijani denounce "Israel's" attacks on Lebanon and criticize US failure to uphold ceasefire terms.

Iranian officials have condemned “Israel’s” escalating aggression on Lebanon, accusing the United States of failing to uphold ceasefire terms and classifying the ongoing violence as a debt that will soon be collected.

In a post published on X, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf directly linked recent Israeli military escalations to a breakdown of US commitments. “The naval blockade and escalation of war crimes in Lebanon by the genocidal Zionist regime are clear evidence of US noncompliance with the ceasefire,” Ghalibaf wrote.

He concluded his post with an implicit warning of future retaliation, adding: “Every choice has a price, and the bill comes due. It will all fall into place.”

Violating ceasefire on one front is a violation on all fronts: Araghchi

In the same context, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, issued a warning regarding the scope of the ceasefire between Tehran and Washington.

“For immediate attention,” Araghchi wrote, “the ceasefire between Iran and the US is unequivocally a ceasefire on all fronts, including in Lebanon adding that “Its violation on one front is a violation of the ceasefire on all fronts.”

Araghchi concluded: “The US and Israel are responsible for the consequences of any violation.”

Continuation of crimes against Lebanon intolerable for Iran: Brig. Gen. Shekarchi

Adding to the escalating rhetoric, Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, spokesperson for the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, issued a sharp condemnation.

“The aggressive Zionist entity and child-killer, exploiting the opportunity of the ceasefire and blatant aggression on Lebanese soil, has shed the blood of more than 3,000 innocent civilians, including women and children,” Shekarchi stated.

He continued: “This comes at a time when the rulers of Western countries have taken a path of silence or support for these crimes against humanity.”

“We warn the leaders of the barbaric Zionist entity and their protectors that the continuation of brutal crimes against Lebanon will not be tolerable for the Islamic Armed Forces,” he added.

Iranian people stand in single rank alongside the Lebanese people

Meanwhile, Sadegh Amoli Larijani, who serves as the head of Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council, posted a separate message on X stating that “Lebanese Hezbollah represents a symbol of popular resistance that stood shoulder to shoulder with the proud people of Iran in the darkest of arenas, and has, with its loyalty and sacrifices, inscribed a history indebted to its greatness.”

He added: “Today, as Lebanon is subjected to the war machine and treacherous Zionist aggression, the noble Iranian people stand in a single rank alongside the Lebanese people in the trenches of the resistance front, fulfilling their duty toward a people who have made resilience and defiance their way and made souls its price.”

Lebanon file integral to ceasefire deal with US: Baghaei

Echoing these statements, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, stated on Monday that the ceasefire in Lebanon is being persistently violated and that the United States is a fundamental party to the actions of “Israel”.

Speaking at his weekly press conference, Baghaei sharply criticized Washington’s role in regional conflicts.

“We cannot consider America and the Zionist entity as separate parties,” Baghaei said, asserting that “Whatever happens in Lebanon, America is certainly a fundamental pillar of it.”

He stressed that any permanent agreement to end the war must include a halt to the Israeli war on Lebanon, saying, “The ceasefire in Lebanon is an inseparable part of any ceasefire and final agreement to end the war.”

Netanyahu OKs resumed aggression on Dahieh

Earlier today, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered Israeli occupation forces (IOF) to resume aggression on the Southern Suburb of Beirut.

A statement from his office said Netanyahu and Israeli Security Minister Israel Katz ordered the attack, claiming it came in response to “repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon.”

This comes as “Israel” continues to violate the ceasefire reached in 2024 and the other reached on April 17, while continuing to launch strikes and deliberately target civilians, civil defence crews, and medical teams.
