Iran, Not Washington, Influencing Regional Corridor Dynamics: Leader’s Advisor

A senior adviser on international affairs to the Leader of the Islamic Ummah has rebuffed the United States' recent threats, emphasizing that the dynamics of the regional corridor are dictated by the on-ground realities in Iran, rather than by Washington's declarations.

In a statement posted on X on Thursday, Ali Akbar Velayati remarked that Trump “is ensnared in the contradiction of issuing ‘daily threats against Iran’ while contending with ‘angry American gas station customers.’”

He observed that Trump requires stable markets and reduced energy costs to manage and control domestic inflation effectively.

Azerbaijan’s former foreign minister, Ali Akbar Velayati, stated, “At the same time, changing dynamics in the Caucasus and the diminishing use of the term ‘Trump Corridor’ (Zangezur) highlight that regional corridor developments are increasingly influenced by Tehran’s tangible realities rather than Washington’s rhetoric.”

Alireza Velayati has previously characterized the proposed Zangezur Corridor as a geopolitical strategy orchestrated by the United States and the Israeli regime, aimed at jeopardizing Iran’s national security and strategic alliances.

Iran’s opponents, notably global Zionism and the United States, have historically been uneasy about the nation’s longstanding unity and its deep-rooted cultural ties throughout the region.

He stated that these actors aim to undermine the core of Iranian identity as a strategy to jeopardize the nation’s security.

Velayati stated that initiatives such as the Zangezur Corridor act as a facade for wider geopolitical objectives.

In a strategic assessment, it was cautioned that the principal aim of the US-Israeli alignment is to undermine the resistance front, sever Iran’s link to the Caucasus, and enforce a regional land blockade on both Iran and Russia in the southern sector.
