Imam of the Sayyidah Zaynab mosque killed in Damascus countryside explosion

An Interior Ministry source told SANA that Sheikh Farhan al-Mansour, Imam at the Sayyidah Zaynab mosque, died from injuries sustained in a grenade explosion this afternoon in the Sayyidah Zaynab area of Damascus Countryside.

The source said specialized forensic and security teams have secured the site and are actively working to determine if the explosion was a targeted assassination.

Al-Mansour was a prominent religious voice in the region, recognized for his vocal stance against foreign intervention in Syria, and had previously held a meeting with President Ahmad al-Sharaa.
