Iran’s security chief has cautioned against potential schemes to orchestrate a false flag operation akin to the September 11 attacks, with the intent to attribute it to Iran. He emphasized that while the Islamic Republic is resolute in penalizing aggressors, it fundamentally condemns such acts of terrorism.
Ali Larijani, the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, alleged on Sunday via his X account that the residual members of Epstein’s network are plotting a conspiracy to orchestrate an event reminiscent of 9/11, intending to cast blame on Iran.
Iran has unequivocally stated its opposition to terrorist schemes, asserting that it holds no hostility towards the American populace.
Iran, as stated by Larijani, is actively engaged in self-defense against what it perceives as aggression from the United States and Israel. He emphasized that Iran is approaching this defense with determination and firmness, aiming to retaliate against those it considers aggressors.
Following a series of drone strikes targeting locations in Riyadh and the energy-rich Eastern Province, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has categorically denied any involvement. The IRGC has called on Saudi officials to conduct a thorough investigation into the source of the attacks.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the actions of the Iranian Armed Forces are directed solely at American bases and interests in the region.
In a discussion with Al-Arabi Al-Jadid, Araghchi suggested that Israel might have aimed at civilian regions in nearby Arab nations in an attempt to undermine their diplomatic ties with Iran. Additionally, Iran’s Armed Forces have claimed that a US-manufactured Shahed drone was employed to carry out staged attacks in the region, described as false-flag operations.
He also highlighted that the United States has developed a drone identical to Iran’s Shahed model, which, according to him, is deployed in attacks on targets within Arab nations.
Earlier reports from U.S. media suggested that in early February, the FBI had disseminated intelligence indicating that an attack by the United States on Iran could prompt Tehran to retaliate. The potential response might involve a drone strike launched from an unidentified vessel off the coast of California.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei raised concerns about the timing and implications of the recent report. “Could this signal the possibility of another ‘false flag’ operation?” he suggested, further remarking sardonically, “They already possess an abundance of replicated Iranian drones!”
On February 28, the United States and Israel commenced hostilities against Iran following the assassination of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, alongside high-ranking military officials.
Iran swiftly commenced its retaliatory actions, unleashing a series of missile and drone strikes targeting Israeli-occupied territories and U.S. military bases within the region.
Since the onset of hostilities against Iran, the United States and Israel have reportedly targeted residential zones, civilian infrastructure, educational institutions, medical facilities, and sports venues, resulting in at least 1,348 fatalities nationwide.
