Foreign Minister Declares Historic Opportunity for Unprecedented Deal; Cautions Iran’s Staunch Defense of Sovereignty at All Costs

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has highlighted a "historic opportunity" for Tehran and Washington to reach an "unprecedented agreement." However, he cautioned that Iran is prepared to safeguard its sovereignty against any potential acts of military aggression from the United States.

The leading diplomat issued statements via a series of posts on the social media platform X on Tuesday, addressing the anticipated third round of new indirect nuclear talks between the involved parties, which are scheduled to commence in Geneva within the coming days.

He stated that the agreement has the potential to tackle “shared concerns” and fulfill “shared interests.”

The potential emergence of the deal depends on prioritizing diplomacy, as emphasized by Araghchi. He suggested that the United States should not undermine the renewed diplomatic process by resorting to aggression against the Islamic Republic, as was seen during the prior round of talks last June.

The Islamic Republic expressed its steadfast commitment to securing a fair and equitable agreement at the earliest possible opportunity.

An official reiterated the Islamic Republic’s fundamental stance on maintaining a peaceful nuclear energy program.

He asserted that their core beliefs are unequivocal: Iran will never develop a nuclear weapon, and likewise, Iranians will never relinquish their right to benefit from peaceful nuclear technology for their population.

Simultaneously, the foreign minister emphasized that Iran’s stance in negotiations would steadfastly uphold national sovereignty.

The statement emphasizes a steadfast commitment to protecting national sovereignty with unwavering bravery, underscoring a parallel dedication to pursuing peaceful negotiations to resolve any disagreements.

The remarks surfaced against the backdrop of a major enhancement of U.S. military presence in the West Asia region, particularly surrounding Iran. This includes the deployment of two aircraft carriers alongside a host of warplanes and missile systems.

Araghchi’s statements align with warnings from other high-ranking Iranian officials, advising Washington and its allies against exploiting Tehran’s involvement in diplomatic negotiations as an opportunity to impose unwarranted and unlawful acts of aggression.

Earlier, Masoud Pezeshkian noted that indirect discussions with Washington have yielded positive signs, while also highlighting readiness for all potential scenarios.

Recent discussions with the United States featured the exchange of substantive proposals and resulted in positive indications, according to a statement from the chief executive, released on X this past Sunday.

Iran has announced that it is fully prepared to address any possible developments, according to official statements.
