Iran Calls for Global Accountability in Addressing israel’s Alleged Rights Violations in West Asia
Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has asserted that the international community bears the responsibility to address and challenge ongoing severe violations of humanitarian law by the Israeli regime in the West Asia region.

In a meeting held on Monday in Geneva, the Swiss city, Araghchi commented during discussions with Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The Iranian Foreign Minister has arrived in Geneva to engage in a second series of indirect nuclear discussions with the United States.
Araghchi emphasized the necessity for collective and earnest efforts by all nations to uphold the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law.
The Israeli government and the United States have been accused of committing human rights violations following actions that reportedly resulted in the deaths of Iranian civilians and targeted civilian infrastructure during the military operations of June 2025.
Araghchi emphasized that the United Nations and relevant international organizations, such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, must adopt a decisive position on this matter.
Spoljaric indicated the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)’s readiness to enhance collaboration with Iran, especially with the Iranian Red Crescent Society.
The president of the International Committee of the Red Cross highlighted the urgent need for global nations to enhance their commitment to the principles of international humanitarian law.
In the course of their meeting, Araghchi and Spoljaric engaged in discussions centered on topics related to international humanitarian law and explored avenues for cooperation between Iran and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
In July 2025, Vincent Cassard, the representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Iran, conducted a visit to Tehran’s Evin prison in the aftermath of an airstrike by the Israeli regime that resulted in the deaths of 79 individuals. Cassard voiced his astonishment at the magnitude of the assault, labeling it a breach of international law.
He stated that the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) oversees the enforcement of international humanitarian law, which categorically bans any assaults on civilians and civilian infrastructure, such as prisons.
