Yemeni Leader Asserts US-Israel Focus on Iran Arises from Tehran’s Obstruction of Their Plans

The head of Yemen's Ansarullah resistance movement has asserted that Washington and Tel Aviv are concentrated on Iran due to the Islamic Republic's role as an obstacle to their overarching plans for regional dominance.

In a statement issued on Friday, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi accused the “Israeli enemy,” with the collaboration of the United States, of attempting to assert dominance over regional nations. He emphasized that their attention on Iran stems from Tehran’s role as a deterrent to these strategic plans.

He characterized Iran’s stance as “strong and steadfast,” presenting it as a bulwark against a joint US-Israeli initiative.

These statements arise against a backdrop of escalating US threats toward Iran, as Trump has dispatched naval fleets and additional forces to the area amidst ongoing indirect negotiations with Tehran regarding the nuclear situation.

Al-Houthi expressed concern over increasing pressures on the broader Muslim community, emphasizing that the Ummah is encountering a myriad of challenges and issues throughout the Arab and Islamic regions. He cautioned that these challenges are developing concurrently.

The speaker emphasized that the confrontation extends beyond military and political spheres, suggesting that adversaries are employing a “soft war” strategy. The aim, he noted, is to disconnect the Ummah from divine guidance and religion, thereby weakening any protective ties.

He described the current situation as the most significant intellectual conflict since the dawn of human society, emphasizing that the battle is as much about ideology as it is about geopolitical tensions.

Al-Houthi has expressed strong disapproval over what he perceives as a widespread apathy among Muslim nations. He asserts that many individuals choose to overlook the looming threats facing the Ummah, cautioning that such negligence offers no advantage. He further emphasized the peril of evading responsibility and remaining oblivious to the realities at hand.

He further emphasized that the Ummah is under threat from “spiteful adversaries, including Zionism and its American, Israeli, and British affiliates.”

He stated that regional developments have reached a critical juncture, with ongoing efforts to enforce a unilateral framework on the Ummah and compel its acceptance, describing this path as “extremely dangerous.”

The Yemeni leader asserted that the Israeli regime is involved in numerous violations against the peoples of Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria, emphasizing the need to understand regional developments within the context of this imposed dynamic.

In developments concerning Palestine, al-Houthi has alleged that Israel is attempting to obliterate Islamic heritage within the occupied territories through the demolition of historical sites and the displacement of local residents.

The individual stated that the current administration is actively seeking to annex the occupied West Bank and eliminate the Palestinian presence in the region, flagrantly ignoring all previous agreements, such as the Oslo Accords and subsequent treaties.

He further observed that Israel has broadened the latitude afforded to armed settlers, amid a rise in settler assaults on Palestinians over the past two years.

In Gaza, al-Houthi criticized Israel for ongoing lethal actions and enforcing a stringent blockade that has rendered daily existence intolerable. He emphasized the profound suffering of those living under siege in the region.

Recent reports indicate that Israeli airstrikes have resulted in the deaths of over 72,000 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. These incidents persist in spite of a ceasefire mediated by the United States that took effect in the previous October. Meanwhile, Israel has been criticized for not fully complying with the terms of the agreement, which mandated the opening of crossings to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid.
