Iranian Surveillance Drone Triumphs in International Waters Amid Allegations of U.S. Interference

An Iranian Armed Forces' patrol and surveillance drone has achieved its mission in international waters, despite reports that U.S. forces had earlier downed a similar aircraft.

On Tuesday, Fars News Agency published a report detailing that the main objective of surveillance drones of this variety is to monitor military activities in regions bordering the Islamic Republic. The agency noted that information from these unmanned aircraft is relayed to and received by ground stations in real-time.

According to an informed source cited by Tasnim News Agency, the aircraft involved has been identified as a Shahed-129 drone. This statement was made in response to reports circulating in English-language media regarding a US aircraft’s actions against an Iranian drone near the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier.

The Shahed-129 drone was performing a regular and authorized reconnaissance mission, involving monitoring and imaging activities in international waters, according to official statements. This operation is regarded as a standard and legitimate practice.

According to the source, the drone successfully relayed its surveillance and reconnaissance footage to the command center.

Communication was later interrupted, the statement noted, indicating that the reason for the disruption is under investigation. Additional information will be provided once the inquiry is concluded.

Earlier, Central Command (CENTCOM) issued a statement declaring that it targeted an Iranian drone in an effort to “protect” its personnel. The statement emphasized that CENTCOM had no desire to escalate tensions, asserting that the action was taken purely in “self-defense.”

These developments occurred alongside a notable escalation of U.S. military presence in the West Asia area, particularly in the Persian Gulf, coinciding with repeated threats from Trump regarding potential new military actions against Iran.

Iranian officials, including high-ranking military leaders, have responded to the escalating tensions and rhetoric with firm warnings, cautioning against any potential missteps by Washington and its allies.

On Saturday, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution, issued a stern warning that any conflict initiated by the United States against Iran would escalate into a regional war.

A prominent figure asserted that the latest U.S. discourse concerning war and military capabilities is not unprecedented, emphasizing that “The Americans should be aware that initiating a conflict this time could escalate into a regional war.”

Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that the Iranian nation remains undeterred by threats and demonstrations of military might.
