Pezeshkian Asserts ‘No Threats, No Pressure’ in Stipulating Conditions for US Discussions

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has announced he has directed the nation's foreign minister to engage in talks with the United States, contingent upon a respectful atmosphere devoid of threats.

In a series of posts on his X account on Tuesday, President Pezeshkian announced that he had directed Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to address a US proposal for discussions, following appeals from “friendly governments in the region.”

In a statement, he announced that he has directed the Minister of Foreign Affairs to engage in fair and equitable negotiations, contingent upon a suitable environment devoid of threats and unreasonable expectations. He emphasized that the process should be guided by the principles of dignity, prudence, and expediency.

The discussions will proceed in alignment with the priorities and objectives of our nation’s interests.

Reports indicate that Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and Araghchi are anticipated to convene on Friday in Istanbul, according to recent comments.

The possibility of a diplomatic breakthrough arises amidst escalating tensions in West Asia, following the recent deployment of United States naval forces to the area.

Iran has issued a stern warning, pledging a decisive response to any military action by the United States, emphasizing readiness to counter even the slightest provocation.

On Sunday, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, issued a warning that a regional conflict may ensue should the United States decide to launch an attack on Iran.

Iranian officials have dismissed prior US stipulations for a nuclear agreement, which encompassed a total cessation of the nation’s nuclear enrichment activities and restrictions on its missile capabilities.

Ali Bagheri, serving as the foreign policy chief at Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, announced on Monday that Iran will not engage in negotiations concerning its reserves of enriched uranium.

Iranian representative Bagheri asserted that Iran has no plans to transfer enriched nuclear materials to other nations, emphasizing that ongoing negotiations do not address these issues.
