Iran Designates EU Armies as ‘Terrorist Organizations,’ States Security Chief
Iran's top security official, Ali Larijani, has announced that the country views the military forces of European Union nations, which have designated the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as "terrorist organizations," as falling under a similar domestic classification.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary has highlighted in a statement on X that the European Union is cognizant of an Iranian law, enacted by the Islamic Consultative Assembly, designating the armed forces of countries involved in the EU’s recent actions against the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps as terrorist organizations.
In a statement, Larijani indicated that the ramifications of this decision would ultimately impact the European nations responsible for the action.
Larijani’s remarks pertained to Article VII of legislation enacted by the Iranian Parliament in April 2019, which addresses reciprocal measures in reaction to the United States’ designation of the IRGC.
The article reports that any nation aligning with or endorsing the United States’ decision to label the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization will face reciprocal measures.
The European Union has designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. This action comes in response to Iran’s efforts to suppress unrest caused by rioters who were reportedly incited by monarchist figures, along with public calls for action from leaders in the United States and Israel towards the end of December.
On January 8 and 9, peaceful and sporadic protests regarding economic grievances were reportedly commandeered by foreign-backed armed rioters and terrorists. These elements transformed the demonstrations into violent incidents involving murder, the burning of mosques, clinics, ambulances, and commuter buses, and the destruction of both public and private properties.
Iranian officials have verified claims that intelligence agencies from the United States and Israel played a direct role, allegedly offering financial backing, training, and media assistance to agitators and armed insurgents operating in the streets.
