‘Israel’s’ presence in al-Quds is illegal: UNRWA
UNRWA condemns "Israel" for demolishing parts of its compound in occupied al-Quds, calling the act illegal and a violation of UN immunity protections.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has condemned the demolition of parts of its compound in occupied al-Quds by the Israeli occupation authorities, reaffirming that the facility is a protected UN site and must not be violated.
UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini stated that “Israel” has no legal claim to the property hosting the agency’s operations in occupied al-Quds, stressing that this act marks a new level of defiance against international law.
“Israel has no sovereign rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and the application of its laws there is unlawful,” Lazzarini said, calling for an immediate halt to the demolition activities.
According to UNRWA, the demolition of buildings within its compound is part of a broader pattern of deliberate and repeated disregard for international law and the legal protections extended to UN premises.
The agency emphasized that its facilities in occupied al-Quds enjoy diplomatic immunity under international conventions and agreements, including the 1946 Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations.
Ben-Gvir directs demolition in al-Quds
Israeli occupation authorities had bulldozed buildings inside the headquarters of the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in eastern occupied al-Quds on Tuesday, as “Israel” intensifies restrictions on humanitarian organizations providing aid to Palestinians.
Local sources told the Palestinian news agency WAFA that Israeli troops, accompanied by bulldozers, stormed the UNRWA compound after sealing off surrounding streets and increasing their military presence. The forces then demolished structures inside the compound.
Later on Tuesday, Israeli occupation forces fired tear gas at a Palestinian trade school, marking a second incident targeting a UN facility in the same area.
It is worth adding that “Israel” has repeatedly accused UNRWA of pro-Palestine bias and alleged links to Hamas, without providing evidence, claims the agency has strongly denied. That said, “Israel’s” Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the demolition was carried out under a new “law” banning the organization.
Extremist Israeli Police Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said he accompanied crews to the headquarters, calling the demolition a “historic day”.
The Israeli-imposed deputy mayor of occupied al-Quds Aryeh King referred to UNRWA as “Nazi” in a post on X. “I promised that we would kick the Nazi enemy out of Jerusalem,” he wrote. “Now it’s happening: UNRWA is being kicked out of Jerusalem!”
