Iran Criticizes Europe for ‘Blindly Following’ US and ‘israel’, Claims Self-Marginalization in Global Affairs

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, has criticized Europe for marginalizing its influence on the world stage by uncritically aligning with the United States and Israel in matters of international concern.

In a press conference held on Sunday, Baghaei criticized European nations, alleging that they are ignoring the actual situation in Iran in the wake of the recent foreign-sponsored unrest that has spread throughout the country.

Baghaei accused European nations of intentionally overlooking the current situation in Iran, asserting that these countries are well-informed about the incidents from January 8-10. During this period, peaceful protests by the Iranian populace reportedly escalated into violence, allegedly influenced by terrorist and violent factions that were equipped and trained beyond Iranian borders.

Despite these considerations, European governments have been actively seeking to incite hostility against Iran, not only at the UN Security Council but also through their media channels, he stated.

The foreign ministry spokesperson stated that European nations’ professed concern for human rights in Iran is “a blatant lie.”

He stated that if genuine concerns were present, the sanctions impacting every Iranian and depriving patients of essential medical care would have been lifted, adding that such claims lack credibility among fair-minded and informed individuals.

In his remarks, Baghaei claimed, “We are observing a calculated disregard for the truth and an alignment with a narrative solely aimed at inciting unrest and violence against Iranians.”

He refuted Europe’s allegations on human rights, describing them as “unfounded.” He declared, “We are witnessing a vivid scenario: a clear genocide that has led to the deaths of at least 72,000 innocent people, the destruction of the entire Gaza Strip, and the obliteration of a historic nation.”

He urged European countries to reconsider their positions, questioning how many are prepared to offer even mild criticism of these actions or to hold Israel accountable.

In response to escalating tensions with the United States, Baghaei claimed that Washington bears responsibility for the current situation, asserting that the act of inflaming tensions has become a hallmark of American policy.

He emphasized that Iran has not deployed troops to the borders of the United States, nor is Tehran interfering in the internal affairs of other countries at present.

“He emphasized that discussions labeled as diplomacy often actually signify dictation. The priority must be to deter any aggressor from infringing upon Iran’s sovereignty.”

What commenced late last month as peaceful demonstrations centered around economic grievances throughout Iran have progressively escalated into violent incidents, following public comments from figures associated with the US and Israeli regimes that have been perceived as inciting vandalism and unrest.

During the period of unrest, foreign-backed mercenaries wreaked havoc across cities, resulting in the deaths of security personnel and civilians, as well as causing significant damage to public property.

Trump has issued multiple threats of military intervention against Iran, framing these actions as support for armed protesters.
